The Imprint series came about in the 1980s when, due to political unrest and violence, there was great awareness of the vulnerability of life. I experimented with imprints on smoked cardboard sheets. The technique records detail with photographic accuracy. It also produces the distortion of impact and the gestures that echo those of victims warding off violence.
